Cameras & Lenses
Nikkor Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 telephoto lens
This is used on my Z8 as my primary setup. The fast autofocus ensures my in-focus shots are consistent and I get incredibly high quality shots with this lens
Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens
This lens is generally paired with my Nikon Z6iii for wider angle shots. I also use it for low angle shots mounted at the bottom of a monopod and it is great in low light
Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S lens
My mid-range zoom for landscape photography. This is a Nikon S-line lens and the picture quality from this lens is incredible. This lens is very light and the extra zoom range makes it ideal for hiking. This is one of my favourite lenses
Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S lens
Nikon’s ultimate wide angle lens. This is my go to for wide angle landscape photography and astrophotography. The large aperture lets in enough light for great Milky Way shots
Rode VideoMic GO II Shotgun Mic
This is my go to (pardon the pun) mic for wildlife videography. It provides really good directional sound and superior sound quality than the standard camera mic
RODE WS12 furry windshield for GO II mic
Also called a dead-cat, this eliminates wind noise while recording outdoors
Neewer CM28 Wireless Lavalier Microphone
I use this for vlogging and it can also be used on the cameras. Excellent sound quality outdoors
Insta360 Mic Air
I use the Insta360 Mic if I require high quality audio when recording with the Insta360 X5. Primarily for voice.
Accsoon SeeMo 4K HDMI for iPhone
This allows me to use my iPhone as a screen to replicate my camera screen. I use it for recording my camera screen in realtime and also for low level photography when the camera is hanging off the monopod
Rolanpro Waterproof lens cover
I use this lens cover to protect my 180-600mm lens from bumps and the camouflage makes me look like I know what I’m doing when in the field. 😛
Leofoto LS-324CX PRO Ranger Tripod
I use the Leofoto carbon fibre tripod with LH-40LR ballhead as my pro sturdy tripod for photographing landscapes and astro work when stability is critical.
Benro FIF19CIB0 Travel Tripod
The Benro carbon fibre tripod is my go to if I want to save weight. Either for travelling or if I’m hiking long distances.
Think Tank - Mindshift Backlight 36l backpack
The 36 litre Backlight backpack carries both my camera bodies and my 2 telephoto lenses plus my 24-120mm. The bag is very well padded, comfortable to wear and meets airline carry on regulations.
Lowepro Flipside BP 400 AW III Backpack
For shorter trips and for when I am hiking and don’t want to carry tons of gear I opt for my lighter Lowepro 20 litre bag. It offers plenty storage and I can still carry my telephoto lens and one camera body.
Kase Wolverine Revolution Plus filter kit (112mm)
My filter set includes a 3, 6 & 10 stop ND filter as well as a CPL filter. They allow me to cut out glare and slow down shutter speeds used primarily for landscape photography.
Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter
This mount allows me to use some of my older F-mount lenses on my modern mirrorless camera bodies
Nikon Z6iii 24.5 MP Full frame camera
This is my 2nd camera body. Primarily paired with my 70-200mm f/2.8, it's a low-light beast, great for wider shots that include more of the environment. Lower MP count also makes it excellent for astrophotography.
Nikon Z8 45.7 MP Full frame camera
This is my main camera body. The high MP count allows me to crop when I need to, and the image quality and autofocus for wildlife is incredible
Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 lens
I use this lens for astrophotography and landscapes. It’s great for when I want to shoot really wide angles and the wide aperture makes it perfect for low light.
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens
I use this lens for wide angle portrait shots and vlogging. It is amazing in low light and super sharp

Accessories
Nikon MC-N10 Remote Grip
This is an absolute game changer when shooting low angles from the monopod. My camera is mounted to the bottom of the monopod and the remote grip at the top along with a screen. I can control autofocus and all camera settings while the camera is hanging 1.2 meters below me.
Insta360 X5 Action Camera
I use the Insta360 X5 for behind the scenes video. It’s a fun tool and lets you get really creative with editing.
Editing
Apple MacBook Pro 16” M3 Pro Chip 36GB ram
The Apple platform works really well for my post process editing
ASUS ProArt Display 27” 4K HDR Monitor
The Asus monitor is a game changer for editing. Colours are 99% correct and the size makes it incredibly easy when de noising and sharpening images to make sure you’re not overdoing it.
An essential piece of kit if you are printing your images.
Adobe Lightroom Classic
Lightroom is my go to program for photo editing
DXO PureRaw 6
I’ve found DXO PureRaw 6 the best for removing noise from photos without losing any sharpness or picture quality
